Welcome. This document will answer most of your questions about performance consulting services with Ben Kline. Please feel free to ask for clarification or additional information. Most clients find that three to ten sessions will be all that is necessary to gain greater self-awareness and to learn the mental skills necessary to affect positive change leading to performance enhancement. There is no steadfast rule, however, about the number of sessions that will work best for you. Also, there are no guarantees that your performance will improve as a result of consulting with Ben Kline. Mental skills, just as physical skills, require diligent practice to lead to the type of improvement that most clients seek and deserve.
Confidentiality: By law and professional ethics, your sessions are strictly confidential. Generally, no information will be shared with anyone without your written permission. There are however, a number of exceptions to this confidentiality policy.
* If I am ordered by the court to testify or release records.
* If you are a victim or perpetrator of child abuse I am required by law to report this to the authorities responsible for investigating child abuse.
* If you are a victim or perpetrator of elder or dependent adult abuse I am required by law to report this to Adult Protective Services or other appropriate authorities.
* If you threaten harm to yourself, someone else or the property of others, I may be required to call the police and warn the potential victim, or take other reasonable steps to prevent the threaten harm.
Consulting Fees: My fee for performance enhancement consulting is $85.00 for fifty-minutes. You are expected to pay for your session at the beginning of each session. Fees may be increased with reasonable notice. Outside of the San Francisco Bay area, travel and a reasonable per diem for lodging and meals will be charged to the client and will be agreed upon in advance of the service.
Insurance: I do not accept insurance for services rendered.
Cancellations: If less than 24 hours notice is provided, you will be charged for all cancelled and rescheduled appointments. You may call my business phone (415-450-0248) 24 hours a day, seven days a week to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Effective performance enhancement consulting does take a commitment on both sides. Some clients who have been unable to meet in person due to distance constraints or extenuating circumstances will arrange to have their session over the telephone. Occasionally you may request to reschedule your appointment for a particular week. If I am given 24 hours notice and if I have another time available, I will be happy to change your time.
In addition, consulting clients contribute their readiness by attending every scheduled session. The frequency of visits differs from client to client, but most start by scheduling one session per week. But most importantly, you need to bring a willingness to talk about your thoughts, feelings and behaviors as they apply to your performance. You may want to prepare in advance for your session, in your mind. Some clients find it helpful to keep a diary of thoughts about their performance as a way to review the past week. The work you do in and between sessions is another important part of your investment in our work together. I will sometimes assign homework for you to practice to help accelerate your performance experience. This is normal. Mostly, thanks for working with me and I look forward to helping you discover new ways to enjoy and excel at your sport or activity of choice.
Terminating Consulting Services: You have the right to terminate or take a break from your work with me at any time without my agreement. In our final session we can discuss your progress thus far and explore ways in which you can continue to utilize the skills and knowledge that you have gained through our work together.
